Although there is no official body which provides film permits in Chile, the Export Promotion Bureau (ProChile) is an agency under the Foreign Ministry's Directorate General for International Economic Relations which promotes Chilean exports and also promotes the country as a location. The agency can also assist international film companies to shoot in this country by putting them in contact with the owners of locations in order to obtain permits and facilities. ProChile has a global network of trade offices and representatives in 40 countries and a nationwide network of 15 regional offices which have direct contact with the regional authorities in order to help with international productions. A large number of commercials have been shot in Chile by production companies from UK, Germany, Canada, Spain, France etc. The big production in 2007 was the James Bond 007 film "Quantum of Solace". |
