Introduction For centuries, the land of Israel has fascinated the rest of the world. In recent years, the Holy Land has attracted a new group of pilgrims: the international film community. They have discovered in this ancient land an exciting and completely unique setting for location shooting due to the variety of natural landscapes, urban settings and ethnic cultures. The climate offers 8 months of rain-free sunshine and a unique opportunity to cast actors and extras from its ethnically varied population. Israel offers movie crews the exotic flavour of the Middle East, the modern comforts of the Western world and a complete range of filmmaking facilities.Permits/visas Shooting in the big cities requires co-ordination with the Mayor's Office. Each major city council has a department dealing with this. For driving scenes or street-blocking a police presence is required. Shooting in airports requires the Israel Airports Authority's authorisation.
