Introduction Mauritius has endless kilometres of unspoiled beaches, protected lagoons, natural and marvellous sceneries, magnificent volcanic mountain ranges, valleys, native forests, rich tropical fauna and flora and boasts of its world heritage site, the Aapravasi Ghat, where indentured labourers from India first landed in 1834 in Mauritius to toil as hard labour in the sugar cane fields. The additional advantages of shooting in Mauritius include: spectacular locations; time saving - unlike other countries, the diversity of its locations is amazing and thanks to efficient highways and roads, you can get from one location to another in record time; low labour rate – our legislation allows longer working hours, which means tighter production schedules, and favourable exchange rates means the labour rate is low; multilingual and pluri-cultural society – Mauritius is a multilingual and rich culture namely in terms of its diversity of ethnic groups implying the availability of a pool of extras with fluency in various foreign languages; equipment & video editing – heavy filming equipment namely crane, track and trolley, HMI lights, generator sets, reflectors, etc are all available for outdoor shooting and video editing facilities are also available.Permits/visas Visas are required - see Mauritius Passport Office website (http://www.gov.mu/portal/site/passportSite).
