Permits/visas
Film permits are required. Film production is regulated by the Cinema Department of The Ministry of Culture & Skills. All formalities can be provided by local agents.

Tax breaks/incentives
There are no tax advantages but production costs are some of the lowest in Europe - even compared with Russia. International productions do not pay VAT.

Recent productions
Eisenstein (2001, Amérique Film Inc, Canada), House of Flying Daggers (2004, Beijing New Picture Film Co/China Film Co-Production Corp/Edko Film/Elite Group Enterprises/Zhang Yimou Studio, China/Hong Kong), The Transporter 3 (to be released 2009, Europa Corp, France). Approximately 30% of recent Russian films have been shot in the Ukraine.

Business/Social Hints: If invited to a family home, it is customary to bring a gift. For business meetings dress should be conservative

Tipping: Restaurant bills generally do not include a service charge, it is customary to tip 10%

Health

Reciprocal health: A reciprocal health agreement for medical treatment exists with the United Kingdom. In order to obtain treatment some proof of United Kingdom residence such as a UK passport will be required. Further details are available from www.dh.gov.uk.

Compulsory vaccinations: None.

Recommended immunisations: Diphtheria, hepatitis A, hepatitis B*, TB*, tetanus, tick-borne encephalitis*, typhoid*
