A guide to taking Lithium-ion batteries abroad
Taking Lithium-ion batteries on a flight can get you into hot water – not only are there potentially serious safety consequences, but failing to adhere to rules set by airlines and regulatory bodies could also lead to a heavy fines and can even be a criminal offence.
The following guide tells you everything you need to know about transporting these types of batteries. It’s been compiled by two people who know a lot about taking kit around the globe – assistant producer and documentary camera assistant James Fulcher, who has notched up over 100 flights with Lithium-ion batteries, and lighting cameraman Jonathan Young, with over 350 flights with Lithium-ion batteries to his name.
