Major new drama co-production seeks Arctic scene

An ambitious new drama, Fortitude, has been announced between the UK’s Sky Atlantic HD and Starz in the US – their first ever co-production.The 13-part series is produced by Tiger Aspect and Fifty Fathoms, and is due to shoot in late autumn.

An ambitious new drama, Fortitude, has been announced between the UK’s Sky Atlantic HD and Starz in the US – their first ever co-production.The 13-part series is produced by Tiger Aspect and Fifty Fathoms, and is due to shoot in late autumn.

Set in a small town in the Arctic, the drama centres on the devastation when the tight-knit community is rocked by a murder. At the time of going to press, Iceland has been mentioned as the likely location for filming.

The series is written by Simon Donald, who exec produces alongside Patrick Spence for Fifty Fathoms and Tiger Aspect; Anne Mensah and Madonna Baptiste for Sky, and Colin Callender for Starz.
