Andrew Z. Davis has been appointed president of production administration for Columbia Pictures.

The role will encompass all areas of physical production – such as visual effects and post – for all films from the giant US film company, as well as segments of live action from Sony Pictures Animation output.

Davis had previously headed up the physical production side of things at another studio big hitter, MGM and has a hefty chunk of producer and exec producer credits to his name, with titles such In Time, Your Highness and Rush Hour 3 among his prolific output.

Davis will be reporting to president of Columbia Pictures Doug Belgrad, who made the announcement. Belgrad said: "We are thrilled to welcome Andy to our team. As both an executive and a producer, he has extraordinary skill and enormous experience and he brings with him a disciplined and cost conscious approach to production management.”
