UK and Taiwan shoot for Asa Butterfield

A six week shoot is now underway in the UK (Sheffield and Cambridge) and Taiwan on X Plus Y, with a stellar cast including Asa Butterfield (Hugo, The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas), Rafe Spall (Prometheus), Eddie Marsan (Snow White and the Huntsman) and Jo Yang.

The rites-of-passage feature follows a young maths prodigy (Butterfield) who is training in Taiwan for the maths Olympiad. The screenplay is by playwright James Graham, and based on the documentary Beautiful Young Minds, which was directed by Morgan Matthews. X Plus Y will mark Matthews’ feature debut.
