Homeland moves to Morocco
Plans to film part of the third series of the acclaimed US drama Homeland in Israel ‘s Tel Aviv area have been shelved due to concerns over the Syria crisis.
According to Israeli news outlet Ynet, the producers of the American thriller have decided to relocate to Morocco. It will be seen as particularly frustrating for the Israeli TV industry, as parts of the first and second series had already used the country for filming.
Homeland has been a huge success for its American producers Fox 21 and the broadcaster Showtime, having won various awards including Golden Globes and Primetime Emmys. Starring Damian Lewis and Claire Danes, it was developed by Howard Gordon and Alex Gansa based on Gideon Raff’s original Israeli series Hatufim (Prisoners of War).
