FremantleMedia has announced a move into Asia with the sale of several talent and game show formats to markets in Cambodia, Singapore,The Philippines and Myanmar.

Multiple seasons of Cambodian Idol and Cambodia’s Got Talent will go into production from 2014 with the Hang Meas group for Cambodia’s first HDTV channel. The sales mark the first ever international talent formats travelling to Cambodia and Myanmar.

In Myanmar BEC-Tero has licensed the Got Talent format, along with the classic game show Family Feud, which has also been taken on for two seasons by the Philippine channel ABS-CBN.

Singapore’s Starbub will also be commissioning its first ever game show: two seasons of Japenese Fuji TV’s The Noise, which will be produced locally by Very. The same has also been commissioned by TV5 in the Philippines.

“The growing importance of Asia to businesses like FremantleMedia is evident in these significant MIPCOM deals. They also reflect the global appetite for our hallmark entertainment formats,” said Haryaty Rahman, vice president International Distribution and Home Entertainment Asia, who brokered the deals. “I’m sure they will delight viewers in Asia as much as they have in other regions throughout the world.”
