It sounds like the pressure is on for the creative team behind Stars Wars: Episode VII. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the team have asked to put the film’s release date back to 2016, a request denied by Disney CEO Bob Iger, so that the 2015 release date will still stay in place.

Acording to reports, producer Kathleen Kennedy and most of the creative team behind the project asked for the extension, and rumours suggest the script is nowhere near ready.

Undoubtedly one of the most hotly anticipated movie sequels of all time, Episode VII has J.J. Abrams in the director’s seat, a safe pair of hands if you ask us. If there’re one person who can prevent the film from becoming a failure, especially after the car crash prequels, it’s him (he did a pretty good job with Star Trek don’t you think?).

The 47-year-old director has his hands full - he is now taking on writing duties, joining the film’s current writer Lawrence Kasdan who co-wrote The Empire Strikes Back.

Shooting is scheduled for spring 2014 at England’s Pinewood Studios.
