Creators and executive producers of two hit US TV shows Gideon Raff (Homeland) and Tim Kring (Heroes) are working on Dig, a new action drama series set to film in Jerusalem.

Dig centres on Peter, an FBI agent stationed in the ancient city in Israel. While investigating the murder of a female archaeologist, he uncovers a centuries-old conspiracy that threatens to change the course of history.

Universal Cable Productions (part of NBC) have commissioned six episodes from Keshet Media Group, with Keshet Media Group CEO Avi Nir and Gail Berman, Lloyd Braun and Gene Stein of BermanBraun also on board as executive producers.

The mayor of Jerusalem, Nir Barkat, said: “When we combine Hollywood’s creative potential with Jerusalem’s historic backdrop, it will result in the ability to connect hundreds of millions of viewers around the world to this unique and beautiful city. There is an undeniable inspiration and creative energy in Jerusalem, which is why it has become a centre for international film production. When Hollywood and the Holy City meet, the sky is the limit.”

The announcement follows the recent news that Keshet are working with another US giant, Fox, on an adaptation of the Israeli series Shkufim (False Flag) for the international market.
