Elvis, Monroe and Lennon star in Dutch beer ad
Whether it’s an A-list movie star sipping coffee or a pop princess slurping on a fizzy drink, featuring a famous person in a commercial is a guaranteed way of selling your product. Get several to star and you’re most certainly on to a winner. That’s the thinking behind a new commercial for Dutch brewer Bavaria's Radler, which includes a raft of (deceased) celebrities from Elvis to Marilyn Monroe.
Cut to Boney M’s Sunny, the spot features Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe, Tupac Shakur, Kurt Cobain, John Lennon and Bruce Lee sunning it up on a desolate island enjoying the fruit flavoured beer – that is, until they’re startled by an approaching ship.
Bavaria boardmember Peer Swinkels said: "Sometimes you just want to escape from the commotion of day-to-day life. We all have that need, so imagine what global stars such as Marilyn Monroe and Elvis must have felt. Our new commercial shows them far away from civilisation, on a relaxed island without fuss. Of course it was done with tongue firmly in cheek, as usual."
