VCCP has created a stylish new Avis commercial which uses Chile as a double for various world locations. Shot in black and white over the course of three days, it marks the first EMEA TV campaign for the car rental company.

Directed by Marcus Söderlund from London’s Academy Films, the “Unlock the world” ad is set to the soundtrack of Let’s Go Fly a Kite from Disney classic Marry Poppins and features a man unlocking his car, only for it unlock other vehicles located across the globe in visually-stunning locations.

Speaking to KFTV about why Chile was chosen as the filming location, Academy Films said: “We chose Chile for a number of reasons. Ultimately the landscape offered so much variety.”

The campaign uses the strapline “We try harder”, which was first made famous for the brand in the 1960s.

The ad made its debut during ITV’s World Cup coverage of England vs. Costa Rica and will be supported by VoD, digital, and a black and white press campaign shot by London-based photographer Samuel Hicks.
