Iceland provides some stunning locations as the backdrop for a delightful new commercial for Arla Skyr, an Icelandic-style high protein yoghurt.

Set in the late 1960s, the commercial is from Blink London and centres on little Orri, a young boy who lives in a remote Icelandic village with just one telephone. His Herculean task of delivering messages to all the villagers personally is made easier by his bowls of the yoghurt, enabling him to face freezing rivers and mountainsides as he reads out the important words.

The producer, Ewen Brown, spoke about the difficulties presented by the weather conditions, and outlined a few of the locations used: “Orri lived in Eyrarbakki and he ran and ran all the way around the south west coast of Iceland as far to the west as Reykjavik and as far east as Vik.

“The main challenges were the climate, the climate and the climate. It's cold - not cold like you get in Canada or North America where the temperature drops to -20, but a damp cold that is tied into a wind blown off the Atlantic. The temperature usually hovered around the -2 to +2 and it would rain or snow depending on which side of zero the coin landed on that day. Luckily the sun came out for a couple of the days of the shoot and with some clever scheduling and faith in the weather forecasters, we got a great shoot out of it.”
