McConaughey film Gold shooting in New Mexico

Feature film Gold, directed by Stephen Gaghan and starring Matthew McConaughey and Edgar Ramirez, is set to shoot in the Land of Enchantment as well as Thailand and New York.

The shoot will take place in and around the Albuquerque area from August to September before moving to New York.

According to the New Mexico film office Gold will employ at least 150 New Mexico crew members and 17 New Mexico-based actors. So far it has already been a great 12 months for film and TV in the Land of Enchantment. The territory has welcomed star-studded productions and introduced a popular new tax incentive with another one scheduled to arrive in 2016.

As for projects, Batman v. Superman, The Ridiculous Six and War on Everyone all recently wrapped filming in the state and popular TV series Better Call Saul returned to New Mexico for its second series, which is shooting all summer.

Albuquerque Mayor Richard J. Berry said on the announcement: “Albuquerque welcomes the feature Gold to our city. We continue to support the movie industry, and the movie industry continues to support our local economy; it's a great thing for everyone.”
