Fox to film espionage drama The Nine in Morocco
Fox Network Group Europe and Africa will film espionage drama series The Nine on location in Morocco and the UK.
The drama will tell the story of a former spy recruited back into the intelligence services to avenge the death of his son, who then finds himself embroiled in a plot to spread further chaos throughout the Middle East.
The Nine is set to be the first regional commission for Fox Network Group and the locations will double for diverse settings including the US, Lebanon, France and Iran. Fox Network will co-produce with 6 Degree Media and Little Island Productions.
“Following the huge success we’ve had with our Fox Global content, we made a commitment to develop drama for this region specifically, that has the potential to be a success worldwide,” said Jeff Ford, senior vice president of content and development for Fox Network.
Producers will also work with producer Khadija Alami on the shoot. Alami was involved with hit espionage miniseries The Night Manager, a shoot that spent six weeks filming Marrakesh as Cairo for riot scenes set during the Arab Spring.
Morocco is one of the top production hubs in Africa and a safer, more convenient stand-in for Middle East locations.
