A new TV adaptation of Louisa May Alcott’s classic 1868 novel Little Women will film on location in Ireland for the BBC from this month.
Set during the American Civil War, Little Women tells the story of four sisters becoming adults in a male-dominated world while their father is away fighting in the conflict.
The drama is being produced by Playground Television and will feature a cast led by Angela Lansbury, Michael Gambon and Emily Watson.
Ireland is developing its reputation as an international filming location and has had a profile boost hosting scenes for both Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens and its follow-up The Last Jedi.
The country’s filming incentive programme is key to its global appeal, with total inward investment surpassing €150m in 2016.
