More Australia-China co-productions are being planned through Australian film sales company Chinalight, a new division of Arclight Films.

Chinalight is inviting Australian creatives to submit movie ideas that can be developed into co-productions with China.

The Australian film industry is developing a closer relationship with China.

Production was recently completed on the Australia-China monster movie co-production Guardians of the Tomb, and Chinese TV shoots are becoming more common on Australian soil.

“Chinese studios have never been more willing to engage with the West both creatively and commercially, and Australia’s entertainment industry stands to reap huge gains, spearheading a new era of storytelling for global audiences,” said Gary Hamilton, managing director of Arclight.

In April, plans were announced to shoot scenes in Queensland for Australia-China feature At Last, which follows a Chinese couple who get caught up in an Australian art heist.
