British Columbia filming surges 35%
Production spending in British Columbia (BC) surged by 35% in the 2016-17 financial year, reaching CA$2.6bn.
Vancouver is a North American production hub, offering studio facilities, an experienced crew and flexible locations, all back by British Columbia’s generous filming incentives.
“BC’s motion picture industry has earned a global reputation for excellence in the screen-based industries,” said Prem Gill, chief executive officer of production agency Creative BC.
“From physical production to VFX and animation, our talent, industry expertise and robust infrastructure deliver the world's highest quality content.”
The new Planet of the Apes film franchise has used Vancouver as a base over the course of three movies and action star Dwayne Johnson is currently in the city for his new film Skyscraper. Television series include the rebooted X-Files (pictured) and A Series of Unfortunate Events.
