Netflix is backing a new crime series that will film on location in South America’s Amazon, on the border between Colombia and Brazil.

The untitled drama will tell the story of a pair of detectives who journey into the Amazon to investigate a series of murders, and their encounters with an indigenous tribe that has a secret to protect.

Netflix is working with Colombian production company Dynamo, as well as producer Ciro Guerra, who has worked on films including the acclaimed Embrace of the Serpent.

Colombia is becoming more popular as an international filming location since launching its first formal incentive support in 2012.

James Gray’s period exploration movie The Lost City of Z and Greg McLean’s survival story Jungle have been among the higher-profile projects to shoot in Colombia over the past couple of years.
