New motorcycle gang TV drama Mayans MC will film as a full series in California as a spinoff from the long-running hit Sons of Anarchy.
Characters from the Mayans Motorcycle Club were a recurring presence throughout Sons of Anarchy’s seven-season run on the FX channel.
The new series will debut in the same place later this year, with a story set after the plot events of Sons of Anarchy.
Mayans MC has been granted filming incentive support by the California Film Commission as a ‘recurring TV’ series after originally getting tax credits to shoot multiple versions of a pilot episode.
In December, the commission announced a new set of TV projects to receive filming incentive support for California shoots. They include a fourth series of Dwayne Johnson’s sports industry drama Ballers and Strange Angel, based on the true story of a 1930s rocket scientist who became an occultist.
