Peter Aalbaek Jensen and Sisse Graum Jorgensen will produce for Zentropa, with Lone Korslund on board for Nordisk. The executive producer is Nordisk’s Lone Cross Lund. Negotiations are ongoing regarding director and screenwriter, with financing being sought.

There have been attempts in the past to film the epic adventure, which is loosely based on the Icelandic saga, but Aalbaek Jensen said of this co-production: "Many have tried - we will succeed!"
