Anjelica Huston is among the stars of a movie adaptation of Michael Morpurgo’s Second World War story Waiting For Anya, which will film in France later this year.
The project will also feature Stranger Things star Noah Schnapp and is currently being launched at Berlinale’s European Film Market by UK-based Goldfinch Studios.

Waiting For Anya tells the story of a young French shepherd boy who helps smuggle Jewish children into Spain from occupied France.
“When someone creates a play or a film from your story, what you care about most is that it means as much to them; that they catch the spirit of it, that they grow the story with integrity and love and skill, and do it their own way, in their own voice,” said Morpurgo of the film version of his book, which is adapted by Toby Torlesse.
France has become a more viable filming location for international producers since boosting its incentive support two years ago.
Foreign production spending in the country soared by nearly €100m in the first year following the increase, with Christopher Nolan’s war epic Dunkirk among the first international shoots to make use of the improved support.
