The first series of the drama is still months away from launch but has generated significant industry buzz that has led to the early recommission.

In the second series, Ryan will take on a “declining democratic regime” somewhere in South America.

“We’re thrilled that the first season has generated so much enthusiasm,” said Carlton Cuse, a co-creator of the series and one of the show’s executive producers.

“We couldn’t be happier to be working with Amazon and to be filming very near the Amazon to tell the next great Jack Ryan adventure.”

The Jack Ryan stories have inspired numerous feature films over the past 30 years – the most recent of which was Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit in 2014 with Chris Pine as the lead – but Amazon’s project marks the character’s first small-screen appearance.

Colombia has emerged as a key South American filming location in recent years. The country has hosted multiple seasons of Netflix’s cartel drama Narcos and its filming incentive support is also attracting higher-profile international features.

John Krasinski is having a strong 2018 with the stellar success of horror movie A Quiet Place - to find out more about the movie and how it was made, read KFTV's article here.
