The story follows a brother and sister who enter a field of tall grass in Kansas when they hear a call for help, only to find dangers hidden within.

Netflix is producing the movie, which is being directed by Vincenzo Natali and will shoot through to mid-September.

Stories from Stephen King are in demand now more than ever since a film adaptation of his iconic book It became a huge international hit last year.

That movie also shot in Toronto, doubling parts of the city for the north-eastern US state of Maine, and a sequel is currently filming in the Canadian production hub.

An adaptation of King’s 1983 book Pet Sematary is also filming further east in Montreal.

In the Tall Grass is Netflix’s third King adaptation following Gerald’s Game, which shot in Alabama, and period murder thriller 1922, which filmed Vancouver as the Mid-West.

Several of King’s characters and stories have also been amalgamated into the Hulu TV drama Castle Rock, named for the fictional Maine location where many of the writer’s stories are set. The series used the town of Orange in Massachusetts as a stand-in for Castle Rock and built sets at nearby New England Studios.
