Netflix is working with Mexico City-based production company Argos, with which the streaming giant is also producing several other local dramas.

The Yankee announcement comes weeks before the launch of Netflix’s new series Narcos: Mexico (pictured). Netflix has branded the show as a companion piece to the Colombia-based Narcos, which originally charted the rise of Pablo Escobar.

Mexico is becoming more popular as an international filming location, though the inherent drama of the country’s notorious drug trade remains the focus of many of the higher-profile productions.

Recent shoots include Sicario 2: Soldado, which spent a few weeks in Mexico City to film scenes focussing on the kidnapping of a cartel boss’ teen daughter.
