Sweden has launched a 30% rebate as a pilot filming incentive for productions that shoot scenes in the Västra Götaland region in the south-west of the country.
Features and TV dramas will qualify for the incentive when they film either wholly or partly in Västra Götaland, or when they complete elements of post-production in the region.

Film i Väst, the most prominent regional film fund in Scandinavia, will administer the fund from its base in the Swedish city of Trollhättan, 50 miles from Gothenburg.
The incentive is geared towards low-budget or short-term shoots, with an initial fund worth the equivalent of around €565,000.
“The west coast of Sweden is Scandinavia’s main production hub,” said Mikael Fellenius, CEO of Film i Väst, in a statement. “The region has an efficient production and post-production infrastructure as well as lots of skilled talent.
“The new production rebate will make us as competitive on the financial side as on the creative and production side.”
Last autumn 19 films co-produced by Film i Väst were released in Sweden. International co-productions recently shot in the country have included Hans Petter Moland’s Out Stealing Horses starring Stellan Skarsgård (pictured), Neasa Hardiman’s horror film Sea Fever and Niels Arden Oplev’s Daniel.
