Amazon Studios' first Argentinian Original film Argentina, 1985 has started shooting in Buenos Aires.

Directed by Santiago Mitre, the film is adapted from the true story of Julio Strassera, Luis Moreno Ocampo and their young legal team of unlikely heroes who, in a David-vs-Goliath battle, and under constant threat, dared to prosecute Argentina’s bloodiest military dictatorship to bring justice to the victims of the junta.

Amazon Studios  co-produces with La Unión de los Ríos, Kenya Films and Infinity Hill.

Filming commenced at the end of August in the real locations where the action took place.

The cast is led by Ricardo Darínn and Peter Lanzani, with Mitre and Mariano Llinás on board as writers.

Producers are Axel Kuschevatzky, Federico Posternak, Agustina Llambi Campbell, Ricardo Darín, Santiago Mitre, Santiago Carabante, Chino Darín and Victoria Alonso. Cindy Teperman and Phin Glynn serve as executive producers.

The film will be premiere exclusively on Amazon Prime Video in 2022.

Argentina is set to gradually open its borders again from 1 October. Foreigners who arrive for work purposes will no longer need to self isolate.
