Russian Doll's Leslye Headland writes and exec produces the mystery-thriller series for Lucasfilm

Star Wars: The Acolyte has wrapped filming and has entered post-production.
The Acolyte started filming in October in the UK, with filming taking place predominantly at Shinfield Studios in Berkshire. The production also ventured out to various locations around the country including the Brecon Beacons National Park in Wales, as well outside of the UK, shooting scenes in Portugal in the spring.
The Acolyte is described as a mystery-thriller that will take viewers into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging dark-side powers in the final days of the High Republic era. A former Padawan reunites with her Jedi Master to investigate a series of crimes, but the forces they confront are more sinister than they ever anticipated.
Writer and executive producer of the series Leslye Headland, best known for her work on Russian Doll and Single Drunk Female, told Vanity Fair in an interview earlier this year: “The way I would explain the High Republic, and specifically where my show takes place, is that I'm about 100 years before The Phantom Menace. So, a lot of those characters haven't even been born yet.”
Amandla Stenberg (The Hate U Give) is the series' lead. Emmy Award-winner Lee Jung-jae (Squid Game), Manny Jacinto (Nine Perfect Strangers), Dafne Keen (His Dark Materials), Jodie Turner-Smith (Queen & Slim), Rebecca Henderson (Inventing Anna), Charlie Barnett (Russian Doll), Dean-Charles Chapman (1917), and Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix) round out the cast.
Executive producers are Kathleen Kennedy, Simon Emanuel, Jeff F. King, and Jason Micallef. Rayne Roberts and Damian Anderson are producing. Headland will also direct the series pilot.
The show will premiere on Disney+.
