Chicago film and television production "booming"
The film and television production industry in Chicago is performing better than ever with record economic spending as a result.

The Chicago film and television production industry is “booming”, according to new data published by ABC7 Chicago.
The data released reveals that in 2012, over 1800 days of television and film production took place in Chicago. This figure represents a 45% increase from the previous year.
The city says this resulted in $170m in local economic spending, almost $10m more than in 2010, the year in which a record economic spend of $161m was recorded.
The success is mainly due to four big television productions which recently made Chicago their full-time home for filming; Chicago Fire, Underemployed, The Mob Doctor, and the Kelsey Grammer starring hit series Boss.
Television crews are good for long term employment, generally hiring local crew and actors for a longer period of time than film studios would.
