Breaking Bad – the hit series produced by Sony for US cable network AMC – is to get a Spanish remake under the new title Metástasis.

Breaking Bad – the hit series produced by Sony for US cable network AMC – is to get a Spanish remake under the new title Metástasis. It will be produced by Sony Pictures Television (SPT) and Teleset for Latin American audiences, airing on Univision's UniMas in the US.

The series will star Diego Trujillo as Walter Blanco and Roberto Urbina as Walter's accomplice.

Now entering its fifth and final series, the Emmy award-winning drama follows Walter White (Bryan Cranston), a science teacher who, after being diagnosed with cancer, embarks on making and selling crystal meth with drop-out Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul). What unravels is a life of crime, greed and the lust for power.

Angelica Guerra, senior vice president and managing director, production, Latin America and U.S. Hispanic for SPT said: "Critics and audiences love 'Breaking Bad' and its original take on the drug dealing business…. It is a very relevant story for all audiences, produced with the highest standards, in spectacular locations with the best talent in the region."

Filming locations have yet to be confirmed.
