Zac Efron and Amber Heard are lining up to play the leads in Autobahn, a car chase heist movie to shoot in Germany in the autumn.
Efron plays Casey, an American backpacker who gets involved with a European ring of German drug smugglers. When an attempted scam on behalf of a rival Turkish gang goes badly wrong, Casey is chased at top speed on the autobahns around Munich, with his girlfriend (played by Heard) in imminent danger of being kidnapped.
British director Eran Creevy (Welcome to the Punch) will direct from a screenplay he wrote with F. Scott Frazier.
The producers are Ben Pugh and Rory Aitken of London-based 42 and Brian Kavanaugh-Jones of Automatik Entertainment in Los Angeles. Executive producers are Chris Cowles and Chris Fenton of H2F in LA.
The high octane thriller is financed entirely by IM Global.
