A French/UK co-production is due to start shooting the last week of August, starring Gemma Arterton and Fabrice Luchini and directed by Anne Fontaine.
The majority of the shoot will be in Normandy, France, with just one week in the UK. The film is based on Posy Simmonds’ graphic novel Gemma Bovery, first published in series form in The Guardian in the UK.
With parallels to Flaubert’s classic Madame Bovary, it centres on the life and death of the eponymous Gemma, who moves from England to start a new life in Normandy.
KFTV spoke to Cine@, one of the three production companies involved, who were happy to confirm all this for us, along with the names of the producers involved: Philippe Carcassonne produces for Cine@; Matthieu Tarot is the producer for Albertine Productions, and Alison Owen and Faye Ward produce for Ruby Film & Television in London.
