Helen Mirren is to star in The Hundred-Foot Journey, a big screen adaptation of Richard Morais’ best-selling debut novel. Steven Spielberg produces for DreamWorks along with Oprah Winfrey and Juliet Blake.
Swedish director Lasse Hallstrom will direct the film from a screenplay by Steve Knight (Eastern Promises). The plot revolves around a lowly Indian chef who moves to France and sets up an eaterie directly opposite an elite Michelin-starred French restaurant.
