Entertainment content creation company Medient Studios has received the formal approval for their plan of a new studioplex in Effingham County, Georgia, US. Building at the 1550 acre site will start in August.
Medient aims to fill a gap in the market, saying that the major movie studies have reduced their annual output and that the market requires more than the “big tent-pole productions such as Batman Begins, Harry Potter and The Avengers” which have recently been produced.
The studio complex will be a fully integrated movie and game production facility and campus which, once fully functional, will be the largest of its kind in the US. Completion is anticipated for the first quarter of 2014.
Manu Kumaran, chairman of Medient said: “We want the studioplex to be an integral part of the local community, something that the entire community can be proud of. As our first slate of movies gets underway we will have the eyes of the entire world on Effingham.”
Medient Studios has produced and/or financed over 250 films to date, and has ties in India and Europe.
