All change at the Oscars
Seasoned film industry figure and marketing executive Cheryl Boone Isaacs has been announced as the new president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, as voted by the organisation’s board of governors on Tuesday (30 July).

Seasoned film industry figure and marketing executive Cheryl Boone Isaacs has been announced as the new president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, as voted by the organisation’s board of governors on Tuesday (30 July).
Boone Isaacs takes over from Hawk Koch, with Disney/Pixar’s John Lasseter joining her as first vice president. She is the first African-American and third woman to head up the world famous organisation, now in its 86th year. (Bette Davis was the first woman to hold the post, for two months in 1941).
Boone Isaacs has worked at several major US studios, including Paramount Pictures, where she was executive vice president of worldwide publicity, in charge of campaigns for titles such as Forrest Gump and Braveheart.
Boone Isaacs has also headed up the theatrical marketing department at New Line Cinema, where successes on her watch included Austin Powers and Rush Hour. Most recently, she has been consulting at CBI Enterprises.
