Mother, MPC and RSA deliver otherworldly ad

Smirnoff has launched a new surreal and intriguing commercial to celebrate the launch of its new drink Apple Bite.

RSA’s Johnny Hardstaff has directed the spot full of seductive CGI snakes delivered by MPC who did the VFX; the agency was Mother London.

The video features a world of temptation and mystery with reference to the biblical snakes and apple but set in a stylish bar. Hardstaff successfully created this otherworldly, multi-layered bar where everything isn’t quite what it seems on the first watch.

Praising MPC, Hardstaff said: " It is always my intention to escalate the creativity and resonance of each project that I undertake. MPC don't just facilitate that intention, their creativity pushes me to raise my game every time. "

The VFX team was led by Adam Crocker. Filming took place in the Barrandov Studios in Prague, the Czech Republic .

“Amongst the additional details were a number of false reflections and multiple versions of a bartender appearing as various band members. He was filmed playing numerous instruments, and the footage was then composited together to appear as one shot,” MPC said in a statement.

The ad is part of a wider £4.5m campaign, which includes print support and another TV spot in October to promote Smirnoff Gold.
