“It’s a great opportunity on so many levels, including our chance to host a star of the calibre of Angelina Jolie and for Queensland to show what a great state it is for film production.”

It is also thought a big part of the appeal of Queensland for the Universal film is the Village Roadshow Studios, which house the largest water tank in the southern hemisphere.

The feature is based on Laura Hillenbrand’s novel Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience and Redemption, and will star Jack O’Connell, Garrett Hedlund, Domnhall Gleeson and Finn Wittrock. Cameras are due to roll later this month.
