A new trailer has been released for one of two forthcoming French features about the life of the iconic French haute couture master Yves Saint Laurent.
The film is very stylishly shot, with the trailer set to a stirring soundtrack and interspersed with text describing the designer’s passion and creativity. In the feature – set for release next year - Pierre Niney plays the Algerian-born fashion legend who died in 2008.
The film comes from SND and Wy Productions in France and director Jalil Lespert. Charlotte Lebon co-stars; Laura Smet plays YSL’s muse Loulou de la Falaise; Guillaume Gallienne portrays his long time life and business partner Pierre Bergé and Nikolai Kinski takes the role of Karl Lagerfeld.
Yves Saint Laurent is just one forthcoming biopic about the couturier. Director Bertrand Bonello is currently in production in Paris on Saint Laurent for EuropaCorp. This one has Chanel model Gaspard Ulliel in the title role with Léa Seydoux as de la Falaise and Jérémie Renier as Bergé.
