Filming has just wrapped in Lisbon, Portugal on a new family film starring celebrated French actors Jean Reno, Thierry Lhermitte, Hippolyte Girardot and Gérard Jugnot.
Benoît Brisefer: Les taxis rouges is an adaptation of the comic (Benoît Brisefer) by late Belgian cartoonist and Smurfs creator Peyo.
Benoît, played in the film by newcomer Leopold Huet, is a little blue-eyed boy with superpowers – but his ability to fly, his superhuman speed, and his other worldly strength all desert him whenever he gets a cold.
Reno plays the chief villain and bandit Poilonez in the feature, which comes from Paris-based Lambard Productions and director Manuel Pradal. Disney will distribute the film, due for release next year.
The film was shot in Lisbon and environs, which was used to recreate the small French town where the action is set.
