Chicago in particular is doing well as a location for both film and television. There are currently six TV series shooting simultaneously and in 2013, the city hosted three studio features, shot back-to-back, and no fewer than 137 commercials.

Feature films shot in the state’s capital in 2013 included Jupiter Ascending, Divergent and Transformers 4 - all of which will be released in the US in 2014.

The success of the state as a top location for film and television is certainly linked to the Illinois Film Tax Credit, which gives a 30% tax credit to filmmakers for money spent on Illinois goods and services.

Illinois and other states with good incentives are rapidly taking away the work from traditional film and television hub Hollywood, which has less financial incentives to offer producers.
