The Moon and the Sun starring Pierce Brosnan and William Hurt is now shooting at Docklands Studios in Melbourne, Australia.
Based on a novel by fantasy author Vonda McIntyre and set at the turn of the 17th century, the Chinese/Australian co-production stars Brosnan as Louis XIV, The Sun King, who captures a mermaid in order to steal its life force.
Docklands Studios boasts five sound stages (the largest at 25,000 sq ft), with previous credits including the HBO TV series The Pacific. Scheduled for release mid-2015, the Pandemonium Films and Cosmos Filmed Entertainment movie recently finished filming in France.
Oscar-winning Hurt plays Pere La Chaise, a Jesus priest and spiritual advisor to Louis XIV; other cast members include Kaya Scodelario, Pablo Schreiber plus Fan Bingbing as the mermaid. Sean McNamara directs.
Brosnan has had a busy filming schedule of late: earlier in the year he was filming Survivor in London with Milla Jovovich and prior to this the ex-James Bond star shot November Man in Belgrade.
