Those of you who were sceptical about Ben Affleck’s capabilities as the new Batman had better look away now, because judging by the first image of the actor donning the famous cape and cowl for Batman vs. Superman, he looks pretty bad-ass – with no nipples in sight.
Released yesterday via Twitter from the film’s director, Zack Snyder, the image shows Affleck’s Batman in full costume, looking bulked, moody, and very dark indeed. Fans got a double surprise, with a glimpse of the new Batmobile.
Snyder first teased his 154k followers with an image of the Batmobile on Monday (12 May), covered in tarpaulin and stationed in what looks like a rundown warehouse. It read: “Could be time to pull the tarp...Tomorrow?” The next day he revealed the vehicle – which looks like an amalgamation of Nolan and Burton’s creations.
But the big surprise came with Affleck standing in front of the Batmobile in full Bat-gear, looking like someone had given him a hefty parking ticket. The suit looks a lot bulkier than the one worn by Christian Bale in The Dark Knight Rises, and more like the one in the Brit actor’s first outing in Batman Begins. Thankfully, there’s little resemblance to the suit worn by George Clooney in Joel Schumacher’s Batman & Robin.
Here at KFTV HQ we’re looking forward to what else Snyder has up his sleeve – keep checking our News and Industry Eye section for updates on the movie, which is set for release next year.
The film will mainly shoot in Detroit. Man of Steel - the previous Superman film - was shot in Vancouver, Canada.
