Lasting a whopping five and half minutes, this entirely animated short film features Pixar-esque versions of Rooney, Ronaldo and Ibrahimovic, who are forced out of the limelight after clone versions of themselves are created by an evil scientist.

There’s no fancy CGI here, simply incredible fancy footwork. Performed by real talent from across the world, the two-minute ad makes you immediately want to pick up a ball and attempt some kick-ups, even if you can’t play to save your life.

3. Samsung: #GALAXY11: The Match Part 1 (Cheil Worldwide)

As part of Samsung’s Galaxy 11 campaign, this eye-popping seven-minute CGI film features Ronaldo, Messi, Rooney and Landon Donovan armed with Samsung devices battling against an alien race on the pitch. We can’t wait for the second part.

4. Beats by Dre: The Game Before The Game (R/GA)

This spot for Beats headphones - filmed and cut over the course of six weeks - features pre-game rituals of athletes such as Brazilian footballer Neymar, and also stars a string of famous faces such as Serena Williams and Lil Wayne.

5. Adidas: House Match (TBWA Chiat Day, New York)

Beckham, Zidane, Bale and Lucas Moura have a kick-about in a swanky apartment while demolishing ornaments along the way. We hope the owner of the property has good insurance.
