Bas van der Ree (pictured) has been named as the new head of the Netherlands Film Commission per 1 July.

The Netherlands Film Commission, a division of the Netherlands Film Fund, was launched in Cannes in May alongside the new Netherlands film production incentive.

The launch marked the start of a more integrated approach to the positioning of The Netherlands as a viable international production partner.

The Netherlands Film Commission aims to serve as the main contact and service point for producers in the Netherlands and acts as the liaison between international producers and companies and professionals in the Dutch film industry.

Over the past two decades, the new commissioner Bas van der Ree has built an extensive track record within the Dutch and international film and media industries.

He has worked both nationally and internationally as a location scout, production manager and line producer on many films, documentaries, television productions and commercials.

Films that Van de Ree worked on include Black Tulip (Preston Sturges Jr), Francofonia (Aleksandr Sokurov), Grimm (Alex van Warmerdam), and Who Am I? (Jackie Chan).

Doreen Boonekamp, CEO of the Netherlands Film Fund said: "In Bas van der Ree we have attracted a highly experienced professional who has extensive knowledge of the Dutch film and media sector. Through his experience with foreign crews, he has a clear picture of the needs and demands of producers. "

The Netherlands Film Commission will work closely with existing local film commissioners in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague, Leeuwarden, Zeeland, Eindhoven and Maastricht, and will actively work to build on these partnerships.

Van der Ree takes over from Jacques van Heijningen (former Rotterdam Film Commissioner) who helped develop the Netherlands Film Commission.
