Australian actress Teresa Palmer is in talks to join the cast of the rebooted version of 90s surfing action movie Point Break.

The Warm Bodies star will appear alongside Edgar Ramirez, Luke Bracey and Ray Winstone in the truly international feature which is scheduled to film in Italy, Austria, Germany, Venezuela, Mexico and India.

Directed by Ericson Core (Invincible), the Alcon Entertainment reboot stars Edgar Ramirez as Bodhi (originally played by Patrick Swayze) and Luke Bracey, who will portray Jonny Utah (played by a fresh-faced Keanu Reeves in the original). Palmer will play a “female lead”, reportedly Utah’s love interest.

In the 1991 version directed by Kathryn Bigelow, FBI agent Johnny Utah goes undercover to capture a gang of surf-loving robbers, led by Brodi, who rob banks while wearing masks of US ex-presidents. It’s expected the remake will follow a similar plot, only this time surfing will be replaced by extreme sports.

Law Abiding Citizen’s Kurt Wimmer is on script duties, with principal photography expected to commence on 26 July. The film is scheduled to be released in August 2015.
