Production services company Milk & Honey Films has chosen Cape Town as their latest location for a branch office.

With branches in Prague, Buenos Aires, Los Angeles, New York and Shanghai already, the new opening comes just a few months before the firm celebrates its 20th year of operation in 2015, having notched up hundreds of commercials and 17 feature films to its name. This period also marks the start of South Africa’s summer season.

South Africa’s reputation as an international destination for filmmakers has been growing recently. Sean Penn is currently in Cape Town directing Charlize Theron and Javier Bardem in the romantic drama The Last Face, and Helen Mirren, Colin Firth and Aaron Paul are among the cast on Gavin Hood’s international thriller Eye in the Sky, also now shooting on Cape Town locations.

Cape Town had a particular appeal for Milk & Honey as a well-established production hub. Throw in some stunning natural landscapes and world-class crew and it seems a logical choice for the company, which was founded in 1994 by Tomas Krejci and Howard Woffinden.

The Cape Town office is headed by Sean Pritchard and Sarah Druce, who have backgrounds as producer and creative producer respectively.
