Director Tim Burton is due to shoot the majority of his next feature film in the UK, but it has now been reported that Florida will provide the secondary location.
Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children has long been lined up for the UK – the director was spotted earlier this summer taking photographs of Aberystwyth Castle in Wales – but the news that Burton will also be heading to the Tampa Bay area of Florida was reported by local press on Sunday.
According to The Ledger, the news was broken by Tony Armer, head of the St.Petersburg/Clearwater Film Commission, who said: “They are, like, 99% confirmed… but chances are extremely good that they’ll be shooting here in the spring.”
The film is based on Ransom Riggs’ young adult novel about a little boy who ends up in an abandoned orphanage on a remote island in Wales. Eva Green stars in the title role with Asa Butterfield as the child who follows a series of clues that leads him to the mysterious place.
