Dane DeHaan and Mia Goth are lining up to star in Gore Verbinski’s next film project, A Cure for Wellness.
The American director, best known for his work on The Ring and the first three Pirates of the Caribbean features, is calling the shots from a screenplay by Justin Haythe (Revolutionary Road).
The supernatural horror centres on a young man (DeHaan) who is sent to Europe to fetch his boss from a ‘wellness spa’ but becomes embroiled in a sinister world when he realises that the clinic is far from what it seems.
The project, which is also produced by Verbinksi, comes from his own company Blind Wink Productions, with New Regency also on board. The three month shoot is based primarily in Berlin.
Berlin remains a high-profile choice for filmmakers: filming began in March on Alone in Berlin starring Emma Thompson and Brendan Gleeson, directed by Vincent Perez. Last autumn, Steven Spielberg was in the city shooting the much-anticipated Cold War thriller Bridge of Spies starring Tom Hanks.
